Objective: An empowered people with disabilities community knowledgeable in HIV prevention, Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child health and advocating for their right to health.
Activities
- Training of peer educators to access information and materials in HIV Prevention Services in Kisumu City
- Training of existing PEs on RMNCH issues access to information and materials on Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Services in Kisumu City through training of existing PEs on RMNCH issues.
- HIV monthly literacy sessions using video outreaches, games and sports
- Sensitization and advocacy workshop for HIV service providers to address stigma and discrimination based on disability
- Sourcing for and Distribution of condoms and lubricants and other prevention materials to people with disabilities in order to contribute to the reduction in the prevalence of HIV amongst persons with disabilities
- Conducting advocacy visits within Kisumu City AIDS Response Committee to integrate people with disabilities into existing HIV service provision.
- Conducting a needs assessment survey on the needs of disabled drug and alcohol users on HIV prevention and sexual health needs
- Building partnership and working relationships with State AIDS Control Agencies/Committees, research institutions and other institutions working in the field of sexual health, human rights and HIV
- Developing resource mobilization strategies for project and organizational sustainability
- Strengthening the Monitoring and Evaluation System to enable delivery
